One day Webinar on “Cyber Hygiene” was organised by the Department of Information Technology on 31st May, 2021. The objective of the webinar was to create awareness among faculty members and students about illegal and unethical cyber activities and how we can protect ourselves from it.
The event started at 5 pm with brief inaugural ceremony. Saraswati vandana was played in online mode to pay tributes to the Goddess of knowledge, mother Saraswati. This was followed
by inaugural welcome address by the Director- Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Sharma. In her welcome address the Director informed the audience about the importance of cyber security and awareness of the same. She paid tributes to covid victims and also urged all to go for vaccination.
After the short inaugural ceremony the technical session commenced. Mr. Rahul Tyagi, Co-Founder, SAFE SECURITY, New Delhi, India, gave a mesmerizing talk which was in the form of “demonstration” rather than “presentation”. The most appreciated part of his talk was the demonstration of attacks by simultaneously showing the hacker and the victim computers. Mr. Rahul Tyagi, lucidly took us through the process and also how we can safeguard ourselves. The audience was advised to have online storage as data backup. Applications that can be used as potential safeguards were discussed.
The technical session was followed by the Question and Answer session which was moderated by Dr. K.C. Tripathi. Mr. Rahul answered to all the queries raised. Vote of thanks’ was given by Prof. (Dr.) M.L. Sharma, HoD, Information Technology. The event concluded at 7.00 pm. Mr Bhaskar Kapoor, Assistant Prof., IT department coordinated the proceedings.
The event was a great success with over 500 registrations which included faculty members, students and industry personalities of MAIT. Certificates have been sent to all attendees of the event.
